Destin Commons recently made a $2,500 donation to One Hopeful Place, a non-profit organization in Fort Walton Beach that offers homeless shelter and numerous support services. They have an emphasis on housing the area’s veterans in a transitional program, as well as providing a safe facility for up to 100 of the community’s less fortunate during those nights when temperatures drop below 40 degrees.

The donation was made through Destin Commons’ Coins For A Cause program, which was created to help benefit local charities with the monies collected from the center’s parking meters. It’s a win-win because shoppers can enjoy the convenience of parking right in front of the stores, while local charities enjoy the benefit of donations made to their respective causes. Coins For A Cause has donated over $1 million to area charities since its inception 10 years ago.

“We are pleased we could help One Hopeful Place,” said Heather Ruiz, Destin Commons Director of marketing. “Dr. Jerry Hollingsworth and his dedicated team are providing much needed support to the homeless in our area.”
