Rosemary Beach bicyclist struck by car, seriously injured on 30A


SANTA ROSA BEACH — A bicyclist was struck by a car and seriously injured while crossing County Road 30A on Saturday, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 3:30 p.m., a 31-year-old man from Rosemary Beach was riding his bicycle across a marked crosswalk on 30A near Allen Loop Drive.

A 36-year-old Ponce de Leon man driving west on 30A failed to observe the cyclist and struck him with his car, according to the FHP.

The cyclist was thrown from his bike and landed on the ground in the west lane. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

None of the car's three occupants were injured in the incident.
