23-year-old Panama City Beach man killed in semi crash on Interstate 10 in Walton County

MOSSY HEAD  — A 23-year-old man was killed Tuesday after he lost control of his vehicle and swerved into oncoming traffic on Interstate 10 in Walton County. 

The driver, from Panama City Beach, was heading east about 1:55 p.m. when he lost control of his car just east of State Road 285 near Mossy Head, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The vehicle crossed the grass median and entered the westbound lanes of I-10, where a semitrailer driven by a 58-year-old man from Pearl, Mississippi, struck the right side of the vehicle, the FHP reported. 

The collision caused the car to rotate onto the north shoulder, where it stopped facing south, The man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The semitruck driver was not injured.
