DeSantis raises another $10.2 million in May, bringing total to $124 million

Gov. Ron DeSantis's fundraising continued at a torrid pace in May, allowing the governor to put more distance between himself and his Democratic rivals.

DeSantis raised another $10.2 million, bringing the total raised for his reelection bid to $124 million.

Democrats Charlie Crist and Nikki Fried are the leading candidates battling in the primary for the right to take on DeSantis in the general election. They are raising far less money than DeSantis, with Crist hauling in another $1 million in May and Fried collecting $302,528.

Crist is now up to $10.2 million total raised for his campaign, while Fried has collected $6.9 million.

DeSantis collected another $100,000 in May from Palm Beach billionaire Charles B. Johnson, the second largest shareholder of Franklin Templeton Investments. Johnson is among at least 42 billionaires who have contributed to DeSantis' campaign, according to an analysis by the USA TODAY Network-Florida.

The largest contribution DeSantis received in May was $1,250,000 from the Republican Governors Association, followed by $500,000 from North Palm Beach resident Walter Buckley Jr.
