LETTER: Destin can help stop forced organ donations in China

Staff Writer
The Destin Log

Little of the truth is known in our area about forced organ harvesting in China. It has been labeled “abhorrent” and “a crime against humanity.”

It is “forced” because unlike in the U.S., China has no effective national organ donation system. Instead, mounting evidence suggests that the Chinese regime is conducting forced organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners for profit.

Falun Gong is a peaceful spiritual discipline in which practitioners adhere to the principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance. The Chinese Communist Party has unjustly persecuted Falun Gong since 1999.

In the book “Bloody Harvest,” written by former Canadian Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific), David Kilgore, and Canadian human rights lawyer, David Matas, it is estimated that between the years of 2000 and 2005 there were 41,500 organ transplantations done in China, and the most likely source was detained Falun Gong practitioners.

It is my hope in sharing this letter with the Destin Log that the people of Destin and the nearby areas can learn more about this atrocity in hopes that it will speed up the end of this cruel persecution against the good people of China.
