LETTER: Many thanks to the Magnolia Grill's Tom and Peggy Rice

Special to The Log

My wife Melissa and I are the Ways & Means Coordinators for the Fort Walton Beach Viking Band. My wife and I just started this year as new volunteers, as our son is now a student at FWB High School. I wanted to take few minutes to speak to you about Tom and Peggy Rice, owners and operators of The Magnolia Grill. I have learned a few things about them.

They are a local business and one that has been supporting the community for more years than I am aware of. They have helped countless organizations as well as the Viking Band with annual fund-raising needs. Tom, Peggy and the staff at Magnolia Grill have been flipping pancakes on numerous Saturday mornings to help organizations like the Viking Band. This allows us to raise funds for things like equipment repairs and replacements. It also helps the students pay for fees at local and regional competitions.

Because of the work Tom and Peggy do by funding not just a location for the fundraiser, but paying for all of the food and beverages, it helps a great student band. And because of that we achieve great goals, by Tom and Peggy providing 100 percent profit to the organization.

This is really remarkable.

This year we were able exceed our goal, which allows the band to purchase new instruments that will replace the ones that are past their prime. I do not believe it would have been possible without the support of Tom and Peggy Rice, who are an asset to Fort Walton Beach and the surrounding communities. So in closing, I would like to extend a very warm and heartfelt “thank you” to wonderful Tom and Peggy Rice and the fantastic staff at The Magnolia Grill.
