LETTER: ‘Reconsider’ Henderson Park fee

I want you to know how very upsetting it was to learn of the $30 charge for Henderson Beach passes for local residents.

My husband, who is disabled, and I struggle to stay within our budget so we can afford to work and live in Destin.  

We don't go shopping, eat out much, or attend big ticket events also due to our budget restraints. We so looked forward to our free Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons spent at Henderson Park enjoying our beautiful white sand beaches.

We understood the free pass was to thank residents for enduring summer traffic and long lines getting into the park.

Nothing has changed.

Please reconsider charging for this pass or offer a decal allowing Destin residents $2 admission to the park.
