South Walton drops two in tipoff classic at Walton High

Although the South Walton Seahawks lost both games in a tipoff classic at Walton High School this week, the coach says he likes what he’s seeing.
“We’re a work in progress,” said South Walton Coach John Davies. “We’re seeing a lot of positives.”
“The chemistry and work ethic of this group is great,” he added, pointing out how a lot of different people are getting to play different positions.
On Tuesday, South Walton went head to head with the Walton County Braves and lost 72-56.
“We led the first three quarters,” Davies said. “But then they got hot in the fourth and we got out of position.”
Top scorers for South Walton were Elisha Gundrum with 14 points and Darien Moore with 13.
In Thursday’s game with Paxton, the Seahawks were edged out 60-52.
South Walton was down by seven at the half.
And even with the loss, Davies said, “We’re happy with what we are seeing.”
Up next for South Walton is a 7 p.m. game at home against North Bay Haven Academy.
