Youth basketball league results
The city of Destin Youth Basketball league is in full swing. Here are the results from some of the recent games:
•Ages 3-4: Wood and Associates scored 15 points in their victory over Trustmark Bank, who came up with six points. Wood was led by Maddox Manson, Gabriel Spears, Sean Simon and Cooper Wood. Cayman Johnson led Trustmark in scoring with four points.
•Ages 5-6: D&D Services proved too strong for Buccaneer this week with a 17-15 victory. Both teams had well distributed scoring. D&D was led by Carter Phillips with 10 points. Buccaneer had three main scorers with Jacob Magallanes, Mason Wetzel and John Price sharing the load.
Wood and Associates beat Swoop 20-18 in another closely contested battle. The victors were led by Grayson Wood and Baylen Knox with nine and eight points respectively. Hayes Wright had eight points for Swoop in this nail biter.
•Ages 7-8: Southern Star played tough defense and held AJ's Seafood and Oyster Bar to 17 points in this Friday night battle. Leading the way for Southern Star was Ryan Willis with 27 points, followed by Ayden Zepp with six and Joseph Jerzenick with three points. Hunter Barber had 11 for AJ's followed by Harper Jacobs with six points.
Southern Bullion Coin and Jewelry edged Lenny's Sub Shop 30-25. Grayson Smith's 18 points were not enough to offset Caleb Reeder's 18 and Braxton Taylor's six. Brick Larabee and Dalton Taylor's defense contributed to the victory for Southern Bullion.
Goodyear Wingfoot defeated Fudpucker's 35-23. The Lukin twins carried the scoring load for Goodyear with Alex pouring in 23 points and Andrey accounting for 12. Gysel Nohrenberg and Noah Mason scored nine apiece for Fudpucker's.
•Ages 9-10: Destin Water Users scored 33 points in their victory over Fishing Machines, who had 13. Black Rigdon led all scorers with 24. Griffin Moore had eight points for Fishing Machines.
Kruz Watson had his best game of the season leading Sinfonia to victory over Emerald Coast Chiropractic by a score of 41-32. Watson had a double/double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. His teammate Luke Edelman just missed his own double/double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Maya Sherwood also had a strong game with six points and eight rebounds as Sinfonia controlled the boards throughout the game. Mason Brundidge put up a valiant effort in defeat for Chiropractic with 20 points and 10 steals.
Core Consultants 24 points and their tough defense proved too much for Crust Pizza to handle. Curst managed just 12 points, with Tre Rahilly scoring eight of them. Max Morgan's 10 and Adam White's eight points led the way for the winners.
•Ages 11-12: Destin Jets came out on top in a hotly contested game. The Jets led with Haven Finkie's five points, followed by the Parker brothers, (Christian and Nick) with four apiece. Scuba Tech put up a great effort, but fell four points short of the win. Ethan Conerly had 10 points for Scuba.
•Ages 13-15: Justin Winters shot with seconds to go in overtime gave Romair Construction a 37-35 victory over The Emerald Coast Boy's and Girls Club. Ryan Romair had 13 points and controlled the tempo of the game from the beginning. Evan Groth, playing his best all around game of the season, added four points and a number of key rebounds.
Golf Garden came away with a hard fought 56-51 victory over Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The scoring was spread throughout the team with Matt Foster's 16 and Logan Massingill's 13 leading the way for Golf Garden. R.J. Perez, Matt Pierce, Jacob Payne and Charlie Rockwell shared the scoring load for the victors. Jacob Edelman's scored 20 points for Bubba Gump and Brant Johnson seven.
