Lady Marlins bomb Pryor Pirates (PHOTOS)

Destin eighth grader Gabby Nix pitched the first three innings for the Marlins in the 22-1 game.

The Destin Lady Marlins buried the Pryor Pirates 22-1 in middle school softball action Wednesday afternoon.

In the first inning, Destin shut the Pirates down then put 15 runs on the board in the bottom half.

Gabby Nix led the Destin bats with two triples in the first inning. Caroline Porter ripped a double and a single while Jordan Malave connected for two singles.

In the second, Destin continued to hold the Pirates scoreless and then picked up two runs in the bottom half.

In the third, the Marlins scored five more runs for a 22-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Pryor scored one run as time ran out on the game.

Up next for the Lady Marlins is a road game Monday in Niceville at 4 p.m. against the Ruckel Rams.
