Back Pew Crew moves to the front with win over Simple Faith

Back Pew Crew finished in first place in the Church Softball Lower Division tournament at Morgan's Sports Center in Destin.

Back Pew Crew held on for a 15-10 win over Simple Faith in the championship game of the Church Softball Lower Division Tournament.

After stepping out to a 12-2 lead in the first three innings, Back Pew held off a surge by Simple Faith in the final innings for the win.

Jordan Hutchison led the Back Pew effort with a double and three singles for three RBIs. Steve Rivera hit two doubles and a single for three RBIs, and Mike Cheney doubled and singled for two RBIs.

Woody Virgin was tops for Simple Faith with a double and two singles for three RBIs. Eric Brown doubled and singled and Tray Virgin hit two singles.

In early tournament action:

• Back Pew Crew 26, Destiny Worship Center 19

At the end of three innings, DWC led 13-7. Back Pew finished strong with 16 runs in the last three innings.

Nick Shores doubled and hit four singles for five RBIs for Back Pew. Johnny King doubled and hit four singles for two RBIs, and Steve Rivera slapped a home run, double and three singles for three RBIs.

Destin Holland hit four singles for two RBIs for DWC. Steven Vaggalis connected for three singles for four RBIs, and Zach Raya doubled and hit two singles.

• Simple Faith 26, Immanuel Anglican Braves 14

Simple Faith jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first three innings and then finished with 13 runs in the last inning to polish off the game.

Eric Brown belted a homer, triple, two doubles and a single for four RBIs for Simple Faith. Koleman Truett homered, tripled, doubled and singled for four RBIs, and Tray Virgin tripled, doubled and hit two singles for three RBIs.

Travis Holcomb slapped two homers and two singles for four RBIs for the Braves. Travis Reynolds tripled and hit two singles for an RBI, and Brandon Wilson hit two doubles.
