Golf, fishing and more on tap at Harbor Docks this weekend

Harbor Docks has three big charity events coming up this week.

First in the lineup is the 29th annual Caddyshack Classic Charity Golf Tournament at the newly renovated Emerald Bay Golf Club on Aug. 22.

This tournament will be a scramble format and registration begins at noon at Emerald Bay with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Cost is $500 per team or $125 per golfer. Barbeque lunches will be provided by Jim 'N Nick's and a Make Your Own Bloody Mary Bar hosted by Tito's Handmade Vodka will be available during registration.

Mulligans, closest to the pin, long drives, and other contests including a chance to win a new GMC truck from Lee Buick GMC Crestview by hitting a hole in one can be entered at the course.

More than $300,000 has been raised for Take-A-Kid Fishing Day since the tournament's inception.

Up next is the 29th annual Charity Auction on Aug. 23 on The Deck at Harbor Docks. Auctioneer Ted Corcoran will be the host. There will be a silent auction from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the live auction immediately following. Numerous vacation packages, fishing trips, original art and jewelry, fully catered sushi party hosted by Yoshie and more.

There will be a buffet dinner and a cash bar. A $15 donation will be accepted at the door. Local favorite Dismal Creek will perform following the live auction.

Also on tap this weekend is the Harbor Docks Summer Open King Mackerel Tournament.

Entry fee for this event is $350 per boat.

There will be a kickoff party at 6 p.m., Thursday on The Deck.

Fish days are Saturday and Sunday with weigh-ins from 4-6 p.m. at Harbor Docks.

On Aug. 24, the final day of the tournament, an awards ceremony and fish fry will follow the weigh-in at 7 p.m. at Harbor Docks.

First place money on the line is $5,000. There will be daily awards as well as a big three awarded. There is also a spot for the largest wahoo, dolphin and blackfin tuna as well as junior and lady angler.

There are also optional cash awards on the line. Ten percent of all optional cash awards will be donated to Take-A-Kid Fishing Day.

Fishing day for the kids is Nov. 2. This charity has enabled more than 7,500 children to enjoy a day of fishing on Destin's finest charter boats. Each year about 400 kids are fed breakfast, sent fishing, treated to a fish fry and given rod and reels and other treats.
