Lady Marlins take Shoal River Mustangs for a ride

After winning the first set, the Destin Marlins battled to win the second and capture their first victory of the season with a 2-0 mark over the Shoal River Mustangs in middle school volleyball action Monday afternoon in Crestview.

Destin won the first set 25-19.

In set two, Destin fell behind 24-17.

After the Mustangs lost their serve, Destin took over and needed nine points to claim victory.

Destin's team captain Sophia Dolly, sporting the No. 7, was up to serve. Dolly served up not one, not two, but nine straight to pull off the win for the Marlins. Destin won 26-24 as the gym erupted.

Members of the Destin varsity team include Dolly, Elise Fogg, Madeyln Kelley, Erin Bankston, Kaylee Bartlett, Breanna Dufault, Reilly Langley, Isabelle Paradise, Cara Phillips, Breckyn Runnels, Kylee Timm, Carsyn Tillman and Morgan Shoumaker.
