Marlins fall to St. Mary's Angels

The Destin Marlins lost 2-0 to the St. Mary's Angels in middle school volleyball Monday afternoon in Fort Walton Beach.

Destin took the early lead in the first set, 3-0 on serves from Carsyn Tillman. The Angels picked up a point on a missed serve as did the Marlins. At that point, the Angels put up five unanswered points for a 6-4 advantage.

The Marlins picked up a point on a miss by St. Mary's, but then gave up four straight to the Angels. Destin came within two points of St. Mary's on a couple of serves from Cara Phillips. But two was as close as the Marlins would come. St. Mary's took the win 25-17.

In set two, the score was tied six times before St. Mary's went on a 12-point scoring spree to take the win 25-13.

Up next for Destin is a 4 p.m. game at home against the Ruckel Rams.
