Destin Marlins give it the boot

The Destin Marlin girls soccer team booted the Bruner Spartans 5-0 in middle school action Wednesday night at Regatta Bay.

Erin Eubanks and Jayden Horne each scored two goals for Destin, while Carsey Phillips booted in the other.

“They played well together tonight,” said Destin Coach Demetris Stevens.

“We’ve got ourselves in a situation to where we can get in the playoffs,” he said.

With the win over Bruner, the Marlins move to 4-3-1 on the season.

As for the Marlin boys, they lost 4-0 to Bruner.

Destin made two shots on the goal in the first half, before Bruner finally found the back of the net with 11:38 to play in the first half. Bruner picked up another goal three minutes later and then one more in the final seconds for a 3-0 lead at the half.

The Marlins will host Shoal River on Monday with games starting at 5 p.m.
