RIPTIDE: Ripping it in the World Series

After two days of pool play in the USSSA Global World Series, the Destin 12U Riptide baseball team is 2-2.

More than 75 teams are in town this week, ranging in ages 9 to 14, for the World Series event with games being played at Morgan Sports Center, Niceville and Fort Walton Beach.

Destin Riptide is one of 18 teams in the U12 division.

Destin defeated the Outlaws of Crestview Wednesday 6-0. Lucas Hartman slapped a two-run homer and Dalton Williams had two RBIs for Riptide.

In game two, Riptide lost 14-2 to the Mudcats of Kansas.

On Thursday, Destin Riptide beat Baton Rouge Brewers of Louisiana 8-2, then fell 9-2 to the Southern Gunz of Georgia.

Riptide was scheduled to play at 1:45 p.m. Friday in Niceville.
