Boys & Girls Club to host Walk-A-Thon Aug. 10

Special to The Log

The Boys and Girls Club is having a Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser Aug. 10 at Choctawhatchee High School on Racetrack Road in Fort Walton Beach.

The Walk-A-Thon is a fun activity for club members to promote fitness and healthy lifestyles, with all participants striving to achieve their personal best distance.  Club kids have set realistic lap goals based on age and development.  Our goal is to raise at least $2,000 during the event.  All event proceeds will be used for direct programming at the Fort Walton Beach Youth Center.

The Club will be at the Choctaw High School stadium from 9-11 a.m. and NASH FM 105.5 will be on site with music and fun.  Club kids will begin the walk-a-thon at 10 a.m. and will make as many laps as they can for one hour.

Boys & Girls Club is looking for sponsors to help raise funds for the Fort Walton Beach Club.  Whether you want to sponsor a student and pledge per mile, per lap, or give a single donation, contact the Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast. Upon completion of the walk-a-thon, students will hand in their lap tags and staff will record each student's lap total on their pledge sheet.
