Ruckel Rams stick it to Destin

From the opening kickoff to the end, the Ruckel Rams blew through the Destin Marlins for a 38-0 win in middle school football action Thursday night in Destin.

Ruckel scored all six times they touched the ball in the first half.

On the opening kickoff Ruckel’s Bryce Carley ran it back 75 yards for a touchdown and TJ Hart ran in the ball for the two-point conversion to put the Rams on the board 8-0 in the first 15 seconds of play.

Destin failed to make a first and was forced to punt. The snap was high on the punt attempt and Ruckel got the ball on the 27-yard line.

Three plays later, Ruckel’s Carley was carrying the ball in from 7 yards out for the score. Hart ran in the two-point play and it was 16-0, Ruckel.

On Destin’s next possession, the Marlins failed to gain much ground and was again forced to punt.

Carley returned the punt 50 yards for a touchdown. Colton Hammond ran in the two-point conversion for a 24-0 lead.

Destin got the ball once more in the first quarter and fumbled on the second play.

Ruckel took over and scored in four plays. Will Koch connected with Roman Prestarri on a 6-yard pass play for a TD. The two-point try failed and the Rams led 30-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Ruckel scored one more time in the second quarter on a 34-yard run by Koch. Hart ran in the two-point play for a 38-0 lead at the half.

With a running clock the second half, Destin got the ball to start and made three first downs before turning it over on downs. Eduardo Larzano had a big run for a gain of 38 yards. Payton Kerle and Dylan Ogle also picked up yardage on the drive.

Ruckel had the ball twice in the second half, but were stuffed out by Destin.

Up next for Destin is a 6:30 p.m. game Monday at home against Jay.
