Knights of Columbus set youth free throw competition

A Youth Free Throw Basketball Competition sponsored by the Emerald Coast Knights of Columbus Council 11893 is set from 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 15.

All boys and girls ages 9-14 are invited to participate in the shooting competition at the Destin Life Center at Destin United Methodist Church. Registration will be held from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on the day of the competition. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided to all participants. Awards will be given to the top three winners in each age group in this free event.

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local (Destin), district (Niceville), regional (Pensacola), and state (Orlando) competitions. Last year more than 223,000 sharpshooters participated in more than 3,200 local competitions.

Participants are required to furnish written parental consents (forms available during sign-in). Winners progressing to district and higher competitions are required to provide proof of age.
