The Destin Marlin girl’s golf team got off to a great start Monday beating Liza Jackson and Baker in their first round of the season.

The Destin Middle School girls shot a 136 across six holes on the Creek Course at Indian Bayou Golf and Country Club.

Leading the way for the Lady Marlins was seventh grader Madison Tenore with a one over par 25.

Destin’s Riley Conroy shot a 36, Gracie Chandler shot a 37, and Emily Reyna a 38. Lily Rice shot a 44 and Marlee Tobik, 48.

Other members of the Destin team include Marlee Rountree, Darbi Fraser, Kendall Hewitt and Aaliyah Miille.

Destin is returning several members of last year’s team that placed second in the county.

“We have a lot of experience from last year’s team and a lot of young talent,” said Destin Coach Patricia Malpass. “I’m looking forward to another strong finish at the county tournament in May.”

Up next for Destin is a 4 p.m. round Thursday at Shalimar Pointe with St. Mary’s and Meigs.
