Destin tennis teams turn in solid performance for win

After a loss last week to Ruckel, the Destin Middle School tennis teams bounced back Monday to defeat the Pryor Pirates at Sandpiper Cove on Holiday Isle in Destin.

“They played very well today. They were solid and consistent,” said Destin Coach Ronda Pridgen.

In the girl’s competition, Destin’s top four seeds Lily Stiles, Madison Pridgen, Sophie Cohen and Ainsley Barousee, all won 6-0. Madison Clark, playing in the No. 5 spot, won 6-1.

In doubles play, Destin’s Madison Baker and Sydney Eubanks lost 6-1, while Sophie Berry and Claire Roberston won 6-1.

Brody Miller, playing in the singles top spot for Destin, secured a 6-0 win. Beck Holahan and Eason Ingram each won 6-1 for the Marlins, while Ethan Eubanks and Ty Suchevits won their matches 6-2.

In doubles, Hawke Yohe and Hudson Aker lost 6-4, while Matthew Wilson and Ethan Eubanks won 6-5.

Up next for Destin is a 4 p.m. match Thursday at the Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center against St. Mary’s.
