Sunsouth Builders nails down victory

Joe Kerns cranked out four hits to lead Sunsouth Builders in a 23-13 win over 30Aces in the Men’s Softball League at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

Kerns ripped three doubles and a single for an RBI.

30Aces took an early 6-0 lead in the first inning.

In the second, Sunsouth picked up three runs and then added three more in the top of the third to tie the game. In the bottom of the third, 30Aces pulled ahead again with five runs.

In the next three innings, Sunsouth pulled away with five runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and then exploded in the sixth with nine runs.

Shawn Shephard hit three singles for an RBI for Sunsouth, while Mike Jones hit two singles for an RBI.

Jeff Tullis was tops for 30Aces with a triple and two singles for two RBIs. Jude Stegner hit three singles for two RBIs, and Bobby Griffith hit two singles for two RBIs. Jameson Heirdshaw and Brendon Leach each knocked home runs.

Down 9-5 after four innings, Heritage rallied in the fifth with 10 runs to take the lead. Heritage picked up two more in the sixth and three in the seventh for the win.

Justin Newley led Heritage with a home run, triple, double and a single for four RBIs. Jenn Phillips hit two singles for two RBIs, and Brandon Daughtry singled for an RBI.

Allen Owen doubled and hit two singles for four RBIs for Crab Island. John Franklin connected for three singles for an RBI, and Antonio Crozior doubled and hit two singles for an RBI.

• X-Treme H20 30, 30Aces 17

At the end of two innings, 30Aces led 11-9. X-Treme pulled ahead in the third with 10 runs for a 19-14 advantage. X-Treme scored another five in the fourth, one in the fifth and five more in the sixth for the win.

Jude Stagner was tops for X-Treme with a triple and two singles for two RBIs. Jake Fannin hit three singles for two RBIs, and William Eads hit two singles for two RBIs.

P.J. O’Connel slapped a home run and two singles for two RBIs for 30Aces, while Josh Hunter smacked a home run and three singles for two RBIs.

• Harbor Docks 15, Sunsouth Builders 14

After three innings of play, Harbor Docks led 8-6. In the fourth, Sunsouth brought in seven runs to go up 13-9. In the last three innings, Harbor Docks outscored Sunsouuth 6 to 1 to pull off the victory.

Matt Reich was the big stick for Harbor Docks with a home run, triple, double and a single for four RBIs. Brandon Patzig homered and hit two singles for three RBIs, and Phillip Vahalla connectedc for two singles for an RBI.

Chad Betts tripled, doubled and hit two singles for an RBI for Sunsouth. Ros Caracco tripled and hit two singles for four RBIs, and Todd Schrag connected for three singles.
