The Destin Marlins lost another one on the gridiron this week when the Baker Gators came to town.

Baker defeated Destin 42-6 in middle school football Tuesday.

“We played well the first few series of the game,” said Destin Coach Daniel Griffin. “They made adjustments and we couldn’t counter.”

Scoring the lone touchdown for the Marlins was a pass from Max Moran to Jamison Austin late in the game.

“Hats off to Baker,” Griffin said. “We played against a good team tonight. They had some good players and a great game plan. I thought we played well initially defensively.

“Offensively, we never seemed to get into a rhythm to help keep our defense off of the field.”

Up next for Destin, 1-5, is a 6:30 p.m. game at home Thursday against the Bruner Spartans.
