LuLu’s Marlin 5K Walk/Run
The second annual LuLu’s Marlin 5K Walk/Run to benefit Destin Middle School’s athletic department is set to go on Oct. 22.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. with race ready to roll out at 8 a.m. Entry fee is $30.
The course will start at LuLu’s, goes into the Regatta Bay community, and ends back at LuLu’s near the Mid-Bay Bridge.
There will be a complimentary post run party for registered runners at LuLu’s with food and live music. Spectators are welcome to watch the race and can attend the post party for $5.

Youth Basketball League forming
The city of Destin is forming a Youth Basketball League for ages 3-16 (age as of Sept. 1, 2016) at the Destin Community Center. Evaluations and drafts begin the week of Nov. 7 with practices starting the week of Nov. 14. Games begin Dec. 2.
Fees are $45 for Destin residents and $65 for non-residents. Team sponsorships of $125 are needed.

Fall Lacrosse Clinics
Lacrosse Fall Clinics will start Oct. 16 through Nov. 13 in Niceville.
There will be free beginner’s clinics starting Oct. 16 for those interested in just checking out what the sport is about. This fun, fast pace sport combines speed, accuracy and contact.
This clinic is for youth ages 9-18. For skilled players interested in participating in the Fall Destin Tournament, there will be four to six practices prior to the tournament for only $50.

Gulf Place to host inaugural 30A Half Marathon
The inaugural 30A Half Marathon and 5K is set to go Oct. 21-23 in South Walton.
Gulf Place on 30A will be official headquarters for the event, presented by The 30A Company, YOLO Board, and 360 Blue.
The race weekend will kick off on Oct. 21 with a pre-race party from 6-9 p.m. at the BoatHouse in WaterColor Inn and Resort. Festivities will include live entertainment by Hotel Oscar, food and local brews. On Oct. 22, racers and guests are invited to the packet pickup and expo from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Gulf Place. The main event will begin at 7 a.m. on Oct. 23 with the start of the half marathon, followed by the 5K start at 7:25 a.m.
Finishers will receive a custom medal while all participants will receive a race T-shirt and goody bag.
The USA Track and Field-certified, out-and-back route starts at Gulf Place and heads east through Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach and WaterColor. The BoatHouse on Western Lake will serve as the official turn around point. The post-race party will begin at 8:30 a.m., 5K awards at 9 a.m. and the half marathon awards from 10:15-11 a.m.
All proceeds will benefit The Sonder Project, a locally-based nonprofit that focuses on high-impact, sustainable solutions aimed at ending extreme poverty and hunger worldwide. Official race regulations, registration information, race course and schedule of events can be found at www.30ahalf.com/.
Lacrosse Surf and Turf Tournament
The Lacrosse Surf and Turf 7 vs 7 Tournament will be held in Destin on Nov. 12-13. This tournament guarantees five games per team for ages U10 through high school for both boys and girls divisions. Team entry fee is $350.

Bayou, Bay and Beach run event
Destin’s 7th annual Bayou, Bay and Beach 5K Run/Walk, 10K and 15K, sponsored by Shoreline Church, is set for Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017.
The 10K is USA Track and Field certified, and the 15K is new to the event this year. All courses are along Destin streets with a peek-a-boo water views.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance of Northwest Florida State College.
