Pinfish Classic

The 18th annual Pinfish Classic is set to go Nov. 5 form 8:30-10 a.m. at the weigh station on the docks behind AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar.

This catch and release event, hosted by the city of Destin, is open to children ages 14 and under. Participants must bring their own poles, bait is provided. Registration must be completed on location by 8:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 9:45 a.m. Awards include the largest and smallest pinfish catches in each age grouper, as well as an award for the most pinfish caught overall.

Doolittle Scholarship Open

The 44th annual Doolittle Scholarship Open Golf Tournament is set Nov. 3 at the Eglin Golf Course in Niceville.

Check in starts at 7 a.m. and the tournament kicks off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

The tournament is open to the public and cost is $50 for active duty military, $75 for Eglin Golf Course members and $100 for all others, which includes green fee, cart, range balls, lunch, refreshments on the course, and an awards party.

Destin Youth Basketball League

The city of Destin is holding a Youth Basketball League for ages 3-16 at the Destin Community Center.

Evaluations and drafts begin the week of Nov. 7. Practices start the week of Nov. 14 and games, Dec. 2.

Fees are $45 for Destin residents and $65 for non-residents. Team sponsorships are $125.

Fall Lacrosse Clinics

Lacrosse Fall Clinics have begun and will run through Nov. 13 in Niceville.

This clinic is for youth ages 9-18. For skilled players interested in participating in the Fall Destin Tournament, there will be four to six practices prior to the tournament for only $50.

Pickleball

Play pickleball at the Destin Community Center on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Fee is $3 for nonresidents and $2 for Destin residents. Racquets and ball are available just bring your gym shoes.

Table Tennis

From 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., table tennis competition is offered at the Destin Community Center.

Lacrosse Surf and Turf Tournament

The Lacrosse Surf and Turf 7 vs. 7 Tournament will be held in Destin on Nov. 12-13. This tournament guarantees five games per team for ages U10 through high school for both boys and girls divisions. Team entry fee is $350.

Bayou, Bay and Beach run event

Destin’s seventh annual Bayou, Bay and Beach 5K Run/Walk, 10K and 15K, sponsored by Shoreline Church, is set for Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017.

The 10K is USA Track and Field certified, and the 15K is new to the event this year. All courses are along Destin streets with a peek-a-boo water views.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance of Northwest Florida State College.
