After giving up a goal, it was all Destin as the Marlins posted a 3-1 win over the visiting Ruckel Rams in middle school boy’s soccer action Wednesday evening in Destin.

Ruckel scored just two minutes into the game.

About 10 minutes later, the Marlins moved it down the field with Austin Pugh booting one in from about 15 yards out to tie the game.

In the last five minutes of the first half, Destin’s Devonnie Firson kicked one in from in front of the goal flanked by a couple of his teammates to put the Marlins on top 2-1 at the half.

In the second half, both teams battled.

With about seven minutes left in the game, Destin’s Michael O’Leary got fouled just outside the box for a chance at a free kick. O’Leary then hurled the free shot into the left corner of the goal to secure the 3-1 victory.

With the win the Marlins move to 4-1 on the season.

Up next for Destin is a 5 p.m. game Tuesday at home against the Meigs Wildcats.

In other soccer action, the Destin Marlins girl’s team finished in a tie with the Ruckel Rams.

Scoring the lone goal for Destin was Carsey Phillips.

The Lady Marlins, 4-0-1, will play again at 6: 15 p.m. Tuesday at home against the Meigs.
