Holiday Classic tips off Wednesday in Destin

The fourth annual Destin Holiday Classic is set to tip off Dec. 28 at Destin Middle School featuring 16 teams from throughout the south

Three of the teams are ranked in USA Today’s national poll, including No. 1 ranked Paul VI of Fairfax, Virginia; No. 7 Male High of Louisville, Kentucky; No. 13 ranked Blackman High of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

In addition to all the out-of-town teams, the tournament also has some local talent that will be competing. The Fort Walton Beach Lady Vikings, Niceville Golden Eagles, South Walton High Seahawks and Paxton Lady Bobcats will all be hitting the hardwood.

The tournament, which begins Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. wraps up on Friday, Dec. 30.

The classic is divided into two brackets, Sand Dollar and Starfish.

Day One - Sand Dollar bracket:

8:30 a.m.: Saks High of Alabama vs. Northview Academy of Tennessee

10:15 a.m.: South Walton vs. Greenup High of Kentucky

Noon: New Site High of Mississippi vs. Madison County High of Florida

1:45 p.m.: Paxton High vs. North Bullitt of Kentucky

Day One - Starfish bracket:

3:30 p.m.: Niceville vs. Taylor County High of Kentucky

5:15 p.m.: Blackman High of Tennessee vs. Louisville Male High of Kentucky

7 p.m.: Fort Walton Beach vs. Wildwood High of Florida

8:45 p.m.: Paul VI of Virginia vs. NW Whitfield High of Georgia.

Games begin at 8:30 a.m. each day of the double-elimination tournament, which wraps up on Friday.
