It’s official. The teams have been announced and the first pitch has been tossed out to kick off the 2017 Destin Little League Association season.

Thirty-two teams made their way down Kelly Street with banners in hand to Dalton Threadgill Park Saturday morning for opening day ceremonies of the Destin Little League.

After an introduction of teams, each squad played a one-inning exhibition game.

“It was an awesome day, couldn’t have been happier,” said league president Howard Wortman.

The league this year has three major league baseball teams; two major league softball teams; five minor league baseball teams; six machine-pitch baseball and five machine-pitch softball; five coach-pitch teams; and six T-ball teams.

The first games were played Monday night.

Wortman says the league has a full schedule with two games scheduled Monday through Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
