After taking a line-drive to the face, Joe Feltner, pitcher for the coed softball team Clemenza’s Uptown, is scheduled for surgery.
Feltner went to the ground immediately after being hit by a softball in the second inning of a game at Morgan Sports Center Wednesday evening.
Feltner, who was conscious and alert, was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center by the South Walton Fire District.
After a visit to the ear, nose and throat specialist Thursday, it was determined he has four small fractures to his jaw and two larger fractures, one in the cheek and one up near his eye. He was scheduled for surgery Friday morning, Feltner told The Log.
He said his teeth were all intact but had a little nerve damage.
“Just a lot of pain,” he said.
Feltner also thanked everyone for their prayers.
