Shooting their best game of the season, the Destin Marlins defeated the Bruner Spartans 129-189 in girl’s middle school golf action at Indian Bayou Golf and Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

“Yesterday’s score was our lowest of the season, so I think we are moving in the right direction,” said Destin Coach Patricia Malpass Wednesday followings Tuesday’s outing.

Madison Tenore led the Marlins with a 28 across six holes. Shooting a 32 were Riley Conroy and Chaya Scharf. Marlee Rountree scored 37, while Juliana Hock shot a 38. Lily Rice came in with a 42.

With the win, the Marlins are now 3-1 this season.

Up next, Destin takes on Meigs at Shalimar Pointe on Monday at 4 p.m. and then is back at home on Tuesday at Indian Bayou for a round against Liza Jackson.

“We have a couple of weeks to continue to improve so we’ll be ready for the county tournament on April 24,” Malpass said.

Destin finished second in the county tournament last year behind the Ruckel Rams of Niceville.
