Destin Marlins tee up victory at home

Playing in their first home match, the Destin Marlin boy’s golf team defeated the Bruner Spartans 121-170 in middle school action Tuesday afternoon at Regatta Bay Country Club in Destin.

Eighth grader Blake Rigdon shot an even par of 25 to lead the Marlins. With the win, Destin moves to 4-0 on the season.

On Tuesday, all eight members of the team were able to participate in the competition.

“Many of our younger golfers were able to play their first competitive round today and they performed well under pressure,” said Destin Coach Terry Gulledge.

Others scoring for Destin were eighth grader Tyler Clark with a 30; seventh graders  Parker Seagle with a 32, and Tanner Morlan a 34; and fifth graders Miller Lindsley a 39, and Braxton Taylor a 44.

Up next for Destin is a 4 p.m. round on Monday at Shalimar Pointe against the Meigs Wildcats. The Marlins will be playing at home on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Regatta Bay against Liza Jackson.
