Both the Destin Middle School boys and girls golf team posted two wins each on the course this week.

On Monday, the Destin Marlin boys rode their depth to an easy 32 stroke victory over the Meigs Wildcats in a six-hole match at Shalimar Pointe, while the Destin girls beat Meigs by 45 strokes, 138-183.

Then on Tuesday, the Destin boys walked away with a 114-161 victory on their home course, Regatta Bay, over Liza Jackson across six holes.

The Lady Marlins, playing on their home course of Indian Bayou Golf and Country Club, defeated Liza Jackson 132-162.

“We have a combination of experience and young talented players this year,” said Destin girls coach Patricia Malpass. “So I have been proud of how they have been working together. I am excited to see how we finish our season,” she said.

Against Meigs, the Destin girls were led by Madison Tenore with a 30. Riley Conroy came in at 33; Chaya Scharf, 36; Juliana Hock, 39; Marlee Rountree, 44; and Gracie Chandler, 40.

In the Tuesday round against Liza Jackson, Tenore was one under par at 23. Conroy again was second with a 33; Scharf, 37; Hock 39; Rountree, 41; and Aailya Miille, 42.

As for the boys, Destin’s Blake Rigdon shot one over par on Monday with a score of 24, and then tied with Tyler Clark on Tuesday with a score of 26.

At Shalimar Pointe, Destin’s duo of seventh graders, Tanner Morlan and Parker Seagle were close behind Rigdon followed by Tyler Clark. Morlan came within 18 inches of an ace on a par three, tapping in for birdie while Seagle drained a 50-foot birdie putt on hole 9 to cap his round.

On Tuesday, Seagle checked in with a 29 and Morlan a 33.

“The team is rounding into form and preparing well for the county championship tournament,” said Destin boys coach Terry Gulledge.

The county tournament will be April 24.
