The Ruckel Rams proved to be too much for the Destin Marlins Wednesday afternoon in Niceville. Destin lost the girls middle school softball game 10-0.

“We hit the ball, we just had too many errors,” said Destin Coach Brittany Cahoon.

Destin managed to connect for four hits in the contest.

After the first two batters grounded out in the top of the first inning, Destin’s Braden Runnels ripped a triple to left field, but was left stranded for a no score.

In the bottom half, Ruckel put up two runs on an error and two hits. Lindsey Lesher reached on an error and then scored on a double by Riley Gibson. Hanna Massey followed with a double of her own to score Gibson for a 2-0 start.

In the top of the second, Destin’s Aylanni Enriquez singled to right but again was left on base.

Ruckel picked up a run in the bottom half on three hits. Iliana Saucedo, Melaina Bryant and Lesher each had hits.

In the third, Destin went down quickly on a couple of pop flies in the infield and a ground out. However, Ruckel added two more runs on two hits and a Destin error for a 5-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Destin almost got on the board. Miranda Treadway singled to left and then moved around to second on a walk to Mary Owens and then moved to third on a passed ball. Makenzie Toth singled and Treadway was tagged trying to score. The next two Marlins went down on a pop fly and a strikeout.

Ruckel added one in the fourth on a triple from Gibson and a Destin error.

In the Marlins' last turn at bat, they grounded out quickly.

The Rams put the game away with four runs on three hits and two errors for a 10-run ruling on the game.

Up next for Destin is the county tournament. Destin, who finished as the No. 2 seed in the county, will take on Davidson at 4 p.m. Monday in Destin.
