30A whips Locksmithing in winner’s bracket

30A defeated Destin Locksmithing 17-4 in Game 3 of the Coed Division III Softball end-of-season tournament at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

At the end of two innings, Locksmithing had small 2-1 lead. In the top of the third, 30A scored five runs to take the lead for good. 30A went on to add six in the fourth and five in the fifth for the win.

Josh Ring knocked in five RBIs for 30A on two home runs. Scott McLeod homered for three RBIs, and Brad Middleton hit two singles for an RBI.

Greg Griffith homered for an RBI for Locksmithing. Michelle Williams singled for an RBI, and Matt Wright doubled for an RBI.

Earlier in Game 2, Destin Locksmithing edged out Chosen Heating 20-19.

After two innings, the game was tied at 5-5. In the next four innings, Chosen dominated scoring two, then five in the fourth, one in the fifth and four in the sixth. Destin Locksmithing pulled out the win with two in the sixth and 13 in the bottom of the seventh.

Michelle Williams belted a home run and a single for Locksmithing for six RBIs. Gregg Griffith hit two homers for five RBIs, and Andrew Burt hit three singles for two RBIs.

Danny Adkins connected for two triples and two singles for three RBIs for Chosen. Holly Black hit three singles for an RBI, and Justin Reid singled.

Chosen Heating will play SoWal in Game 4 at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The winner of Game 4 will take on Destin Locksmithing in Game 5 at 8 p.m.


Navigators beat Misfits 21-17 in Game 3 to advance in the winners bracket of the Coed Softball Division IV League tournament.

Misfits led 8-7 at the end of three. Navigators pulled ahead in the fifth with eight runs.

Top batter for Navigators was Andrew Albright with a double and four singles for four RBIs. Ryan Marcel hit two doubles and a single for two RBIs.

Jason Shinholster hit two doubles and two singles for three RBIs for Misfits. Brandon Brookshaw doubled and hit two singles.

In Game 2, Navigators beat Landsharks 13-4.

After two innings, Navigators led 8-1.

Andrew Albright was tops for Navigators with three doubles and a single for four RBIs. Bart Holly hit three singles for two RBIs, and Ryan Marcel doubled and hit two singles for an RBI.

Justin Hutchison hit three singles for an RBI for Landsharks.

Landsharks will play HOA’s at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Game 4. The winner of the 6:30 p.m. game will play Misfits at 8 p.m.
