Locksmithing, 30A square off for title game

Destin Locksmithing defeated Chosen Heating 18-5 to advance to the championship game in the Coed Division III Softball end-of-season tournament at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

Locksmithing will take on 30A at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. If Locksmithing wins, the two teams will play again at 8 p.m. in the double elimination tournament for the title.

In Locksmithing's game against Chosen, Locksmithing took an 8-1 lead in the first three innings. In the top of the fourth, Locksmithing pulled away scoring the 10-run limit. Chosen scored one in the fourth and then three in the bottom of the fifth.

Brandon Blyden led Locksmithing with a home run and a double for four RBIs. Lisa Fourth hit two singles for two RBIs, and Andrew Burt doubled and singled for two RBIs.

Blaine Watkins slapped a home run and a single for an RBI for Chosen. Amy Benworth hit two singles and Danny Adkins doubled for two RBIs.

In earlier tournament action, Chosen Heating beat SoWal 19-5.

Chosen started with a bang scoring the 10-run limit in the bottom of the first. In the second, Chosen added one more run.

SoWal had their big inning in the top of the third with four runs. Chosen answered with three in the bottom half. In the top of the fourth, SoWal scored one and Chosen came back with five in the bottom for the win.

Kristen Myer led Chosen with a homer, two triples and a single for five RBIs. Holly Black hit three singles for three RBIs, and Nate Young hit two singles for an RBI.

Steve Kline and Jennifer Joyner each hit a single for SoWal and Ozzy Demerdosh hit three singles for two RBIs.

COED DIVISION IV

Misfits beat Landsharks 21-9.

Misfits will square off against Navigators at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. If Misfits win, the two teams will play again at 8 p.m. for the championship. If Navigators wins the first game, they will be the champs of league.

In earlier tournament play, Landsharks beat HOA’s 22-18.
