Misfits double down for title

Going in as the under dog, Misfits battled back to beat Navigators twice for the title of the Coed Division IV Softball League end-of-season tournament at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

Misfits had lost earlier in the double-elimination tournament, but came back to beat Navigators 20-3 then 18-6 for the championship.

In the first win, Misfits had two big innings scoring 10 in the first and the fourth for a 20-3 victory.

Casey Leiner hit two doubles and a single for four RBIs for Misfits. Michelle McKayn doubled and hit two singles and Sam Senor knocked in three RBIs on a pair of hits.

Andy Albright led Navigators with a double and a single.

In the championship game, Misfits led 6-1 at the end of three innings. By the end of five, Misfits was up 10-5. In the last two innings, Misfits scored nine for an 18-6 win.

Leiner was tops again for Misfits with two triples and a single for four RBIs. Jason Smith hit two singles, and Jason Shin slapped a home run and a single for four RBIs.

Ryan Marcell led Navigators with a home run and two doubles for two RBIs.
