Destin softball All Stars fall in tournament play

The Destin 8- and 10-year-old All Star softball team struggled at bat Thursday night, taking a 10-0 loss to Niceville in the Florida District 1 Little League tournament played at Dalton Threadgill Little League Park in Destin.
Niceville connected for five hits, while Destin failed to get the bat around on the ball. Niceville was led by Sam Koscho with a double and a triple for four RBIs. Emma Sites, Yaremia Figueroa and Kloe Rich each hit a single.
In the first inning, Destin’s MJ Toth reached on a walk and moved around to second on a walk to Mykean Pope. Toth was tagged trying to take third for a no-score inning.
Niceville put one run on the board in the bottom half. Sites singled and scored on an error.
In the second, Niceville put three more runs on the board. Bailey Hisey reached on an error and Figueroa singled to right. Rich grounded out and Hisey scored. Kate Kulow walked and then Koscho belted a double to left center for two RBIs and a 4-0 lead.
In the third, Niceville put six runs on the board on two hits and a couple of fielding errors.
In the top of the fourth, Destin failed to get past second base with Niceville taking the win.
