Emerald Coast Chiropractic slips by Island Wings
Mike Henry connected for four hits to lead Emerald Coast Chiropractic in a 15-14 win over Island Wings in the Coed Division I Softball League at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.
Henry cracked out four singles for two RBIs.
Chiropractic jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the first two innings. Island Wings edged ahead in the next two with five runs for an 8-7 advantage.
In the fifth, both teams scored five. The sixth inning was the difference in the game. Chiropractic brought in three runs while Island Wings only scored one.
Whitney Whiddon connected for two singles for Chiropractic, while Geoff Brower tripled, doubled and singled for two RBIs.
Todd Schrag was tops for Island Wings with a homer, triple and two doubles for three RBIs. Christy Rubina doubled and hit two singles for two RBIs, and Mike Jones tripled and singled for an RBI.
Stanley Security 18, Heritage Tree Service 17
After trailing 10-1, Stanley Security battled back to pull out the win in the bottom of the seventh.
With time out on the clock and the game tied, the game went to one-pitch.
Heritage scored one run in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom half, Stanley scored two runs on a shot by Greg Griffith to put the game away.
Griffith was top batter for the game for Stanley with a triple, three doubles and a single for three RBIs. Kyle Detweiler hit three singles for four RBIs and Jane Purdy connected for three singles for an RBI.
Big hitter for Heritage was Isah Chaney with a grand slam, plus another home run and two singles for a total of seven RBIs. Jason Little hit two doubles and two singles, and Casey Tetman hit three singles. Brad DesGranges and Justin Nunly each cranked out home runs.
Unknowns 31, Island Wings 13
Unknowns took an early 12-6 lead in the first two innings. By the end of four, Island Wings had caught up, but still trailed 15-13. In the fifth and sixth innings, Unknowns put the game away with eight runs in each inning.
Ace Crank was the big stick for Unknowns with two doubles and three singles for six RBIs. Andy Collins tripled, doubled and hit two singles for three RBIs, and Missy Wellborn hit two singles for an RBI.
Chris Edmondson led Island Wings with a double and two singles for three RBIs. Chris Rubino hit two doubles for two RBIs, and Christy Rubino singled.
