Destin soccer teams post tie and a victory

In 46 degree weather, the Destin Middle School Marlins made a good showing on the soccer field Wednesday evening against the Ruckel Rams of Niceville.

The Destin boys played to a no-score finish against the Rams, while the Destin girls came away with a 3-1 victory.

In the boy’s game, Destin was on the attack for the majority of the first half with Michael O’Leary making at least four shots on goal.

As for the girls, Destin put the game away. Scoring for the Lady Marlins were Mariah Manthey, Ally Dowdy and Makenzi Maltezo.

Up next for the Marlins is a home match with the Meigs Wildcats of Shalimar on Dec. 11. The boy’s game will begin at 5 p.m. with the girls to follow at 6:15.
