Almighty, Stanley secure spot in championship

Stanley Security and Almighty Installations posted victories in the first round of the Coed Softball Division III End of Season Tournament to advance to the championship game at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at Morgan Sports Center.

In Game 1 last week, Stanley Security defeated Destin Locksmithing 21-9.

Stanley jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first two innings. In the third, Locksmithing scored three and Stanley answered with four for a 12-5 advantage. In the last two innings, Stanley scored four in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Ethan Randolph led Stanley with two doubles and two singles for two RBIs. Gregg Griffith belted two homers for four RBIs; Jane Purdy tripled and doubled for two RBIs; and Danny Adkins ripped a home run.

Josh Feltner cranked out a home run for Locksmithing for three RBIs. Nick Reiner and Michelle Williams each singled for RBIs.

In Game 2, Almighty Installations knocked out Island Wings 20-7 to make it to the championship game.

At the end of two innings, Almighty led 4-3. In the third, Almighty began to pull away with nine runs to Wings' three.

In the last three innings, Almighty outscored Wings seven to one for the win.

Justin Bleque led Almighty with a homer, triple, two doubles and a single for three RBIs. Brittany Forester tripled and doubled for an RBI.

Frank Lozano led Island Wings with a double and two singles for two RBIs and Chris Rubino tripled and singled for an RBI.
