Three teams still alive in Coed IV tournament

With five teams initially participating, three are still alive in the Coed Softball Division IV End of Season Tournament at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

Healthsource will take on Misfits at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 20 with the winner advancing to play SoWal at 8 p.m. for the championship.

To make it to the final round, Healthsource blasted Landsharks 17-5 in Game 1 of the tournament.

Healthsource took a 5-1 lead in the first two innings. In the third, Healthsource scored two and then picked up three more in the fourth for a 10-5 advantage.

In the bottom of the fifth, Healthsource brought in six runs and then finished up with one in the sixth for a run-ruling on the game.

Ryan Johnson led the attack for Healthsource with a home run, double and two singles for an RBI. Bradley Manning doubled and hit two singles and R. Ladd hit three singles.

Zack Craig was tops for Landsharks with a triple, double and a single. Justin Hutchison hit two doubles and a single and Jess Ramm hit two singles.

In Game 2, SoWal edged out Nike 22-21.

At the end of two innings, the game was deadlocked 9-9. In the third, SoWal edged ahead 13-10.

Nike took the lead in the top of the fourth with six runs, but SoWal answered with four for a 17-16 game.

In the top of the fifth, Nike again took the lead with four runs and held it until the sixth when SoWal broke loose for five runs to go up 22-20.

In the seventh, Nike could only muster one run with SoWal taking the win.

Kyle Boyer led SoWal with a double and three singles. Tasha Carl and Lauren Dale each hit three singles.

Michael Ogden doubled and hit three singles for Nike, while Michael Provill tripled and hit two singles.
