Lady Marlins clip St. Mary’s Archangels

The Destin Marlins dominated to pull off a 47-13 win over the visiting Archangels from St. Mary’s in Fort Walton Beach in girls middle school basketball action Tuesday night.

Destin outscored the Archangels every quarter.

“Our guards dominated the scoring in this game by getting out and running and passing ahead,” said Destin Coach Susie Pierce.

Scoring in double digits for the Marlins were Samantha Sherer with 13 and Lexi Roberts with 12. Rylee Brown scored eight. Contributing four points each were Izabelle Adams, Elaina Perkins and Gysel Nohrenberger. Carrington Phillips chipped in two.

In the first quarter, Destin put 18 points on the board with Sherer and Brown both scoring six points.

The Marlins put up nine more points in the second quarter for a 27-7 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Destin continued to bury the Archangels putting up 12 points to their two with Sherer again leading the effort for the Marlins with six points.

Destin finished up the game with eight points in the fourth for the win.

Up next for Destin is a 5 p.m. game on Tuesday in Crestview against the Davidson Panthers.
