With 10 players putting points on the board, the Ruckel Rams dominated for a 61-34 victory over the Destin Marlins in middle school boy’s basketball action Thursday night in Niceville.

Ruckel was led by Owen Wolfe with 13 points. Jahaci Johnson and Azareych Thomas each scored nine, while Aiden Boyd and Ollie Broutin each put up six.

High-point player for both teams was Destin’s Luke Edelman with 18 points, 14 coming in the third quarter.

“Edelman played really well in the third quarter,” said Destin Coach Brent Aker.

As a matter of fact, the third quarter was Destin’s shinning moment as they outscored the Rams 16-6.

“We got within 13 points, but we couldn’t keep up the pace,” Aker said.

Nevertheless, he said, “The boys played well.”

Ruckel jumped out to a 20-4 lead in the first quarter with Thomas leading the way with nine points.

In the second quarter, Ruckel continued to take it to the Marlins. The Rams scored 15, while Destin scored six.

Ruckel finished up with 20 points in the fourth, and Destin put up eight.

Others scoring for Destin were Jaden Carlisle with six, Aiden Garrity and Tobias Thompson with four each, and Cooper Stanford two.
