Destin tennis back on track

After dropping their last two matches, the Destin Marlins are back on track with wins over St. Mary’s in middle school tennis action Thursday afternoon at the Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center.

The Destin boys team won 7-0, while the girls posted a 5-2 victory.

Destin’s No. 1 seed, Blake Forester, defeated Cole Armstrong 6-4, while No. 2 Ethan Eubanks finished 6-3 over Maris Rudzki. Gates Chipser in the No. 3 spot beat Angelo Villanueva 6-3. Eason Ingram defeated Christopher Manion 6-1 and Destin’s Chris Blanchard beat David Brandt 6-1.

In doubles play, Forester and Eubanks combined for a 6-1 win over Armstrong and Rudski.

Chipser and Ingram won their doubles match 6-3.

As for the Destin girls, No. 1 seed Madison Clark went to the wire with Rachel Daldine but won 6-5. Destin’s No. 5, Sydney Eubanks did the same with her opponent Bella Bryant finishing with a 6-5 victory.

Destin’s No. 2 player Kaila Ullrich won 6-1 over Jillian Easley, while No. 3, Carly Maurer beat Teagan Seton, 6-4. Bella Burket lost to Caroline Carter 6-4.

In doubles, Clark and Ullrich lost 6-3 while Maurer and Burkett won 6-1.

Up next for Destin, 4-2, is a 4 p.m. meet on April 19 at Bluewater Bay Tennis Center against Meigs Middle School
