Destin Middle School has nearly 20 athletes who have qualified for the state track meet scheduled for May 11 in Bradenton.

“Being good doesn't get you into the state meet," said Destin assistant track and field coach William Kline. "You have to be great."

And Destin has had a great group of well-rounded athletes who have excelled in field events as well as running events.

“I'm so proud of the work they have done this year. Workouts that made them throw up earlier in the year are a breeze now,” Kline said.

The Destin boys finished the regular season undefeated, while the girls won every meet save a single second-place finish.
