Little League Opening Day

The Destin Little League Association will be kicking off it’s 2020 season this Saturday, March 7.

The parade to Dalton Threadgill Little League Park will begin at the Destin Elementary School at 9 a.m. and then head down Kelly Street to the ball park.

Teams will be announced and the first ball tossed out to kick off the season followed by exhibition games and a cookout.

Youth Flag Football registration

Registration for the city of Destin‘s Youth Flag Football league is currently underway until March 20.

The league is for youth ages 11-13 as of Aug. 1, 2019.

Fee is $95 with a $30 discount offered to Destin residents with a valid driver‘s license. Registration can be completed in person at the Destin Community Center Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Games will begin April 9 and well be played on Saturday mornings at Morgan Sports Center.

Run for The Health

The eighth annual Run for the Health of It is set for March 21 at AJ’s Oyster Shanty on Santa Rosa Boulevard on Okaloosa Island.

Entry fee for the 5K/8K is $25 for adults and $20 for children.

Participants will take off at 9 a.m. Runners and walkers of all ability levels are invited to participate. Both the race and the after-party are stroller and dog friendly.

The race will be followed by an after party at AJ's Oyster Shanty. There will be children's activities, including a bounce house, face painting and art stations. Awards will be given for the top three finishers from each 10-year age group.

"Get Lucky" Half Marathon

There will be a “Get Lucky” Half Marathon added to the popular Lucky Leprechaun 5k/10k weekend in Fort Walton Beach.

Run the 5K or 10K on March 14 or the Half on March 15 or do one of the races on Saturday and the Half on Sunday. Athletes that do both will receive a commemorative beach towel.

All Half Marathon finishers will earn a finishers medal.

The 5K and 10K on Saturday will start at 8 a.m., while the half marathon on Sunday will begin at 7 a.m.

Packet Pick up will be at Run With It at 170 Miracle Strip Parkway SE in downtown Fort Walton Beach, from 4-6 p.m.March 13, 6:30-7:45 a.m. March 14, and 6-6:45 a.m. March 15.
