Amberjack season opened May 1

Amberjack season opened in the Gulf of Mexico for recreational fishermen on May 1.

The limit is one per angler and it must measure at least 34 inches to keep. The fishery is open throughout the month.

Capt. Stan Phillips took this group of anglers out on the Destination for a big haul. They came back with amberjack, triggerfish, mingo, scamp and a wahoo.

Anglers on the Silver Lining with Capt. Joe Quaranto loaded up on triggerfish and mingo, plus hauled in a few amberjack.

Anglers on the Special K with Capt. Kyle Lowe got in on the amberjack action. They also pulled in a few scamp, mingo and more.
