Pier/Surf Under blue skies, the water is clear with a 1-foot wave rolling in at the Okaloosa Island Pier. On Monday anglers pulled in Spanish mackerel, sheepshead and bluefish. Other fish caught in the last couple of days include king mackerel, skipjack, bonito and hardtails. Pompano and whiting are showing up in the surf.

Inshore/Bay Redfish and speckled trout are the hot ticket item right now inshore. Trout are biting well in the morning on the grass flats and redfish on the outgoing tide near the bridge and pass. On Monday, Backcountry Outfitters with Capt. Cody Gray came in with a nice slot-size redfish along with a few mackerel, all caught just inside the sandbar.

Offshore/Bottom The wind has kept the boats in close the last few days, but they are still pulling in grouper, amberjack, scamp and mingo off the bottom between 7 to 14 miles out. Offshore, the wahoo and dolphin bite has been good. Last week before the wind blew, a 38-pound dolphin was brought in at the rodeo from an overnight trip.
