Pier/Surf The sun is shining and the water is clear and calm at the Okaloosa Island Pier. Monday anglers pulled in Spanish mackerel, hardtail and sheepshead. Other fish caught in the last couple of days include whiting, skipjack and pompano. Pompano, whiting and redfish are also showing up in the surf off the beach.

Inshore/Bay The flounder are starting to move and are showing up on the inshore wrecks. Live bait, mullet or cigar minnows work best. The redfish are starting to school up and can be found around the Mid-Bay Bridge to the Destin Bridge on the grass flats — on the north and south side of the bay. Redfish will hit a top water lure, or you can try bouncing a soft plastic off the bottom. Speckled trout can be found at the mouth of the rivers and up in the rivers in the deep holes. Peter Wright at Ships Chandler says, “find the holes and fish with live shrimp.”

Offshore/Bottom There are still a few king mackerel, Spanish mackerel and blackfin tuna to be had trolling in close. Bottom fishing is good for a catch of mingo, red grouper and amberjack. Wahoo are still showing up on the edge along with a few tuna. For those venturing a bit further out near the canyon, the swordfish bite is still good.
