Pier/Surf The water is clear and calm with a cold north wind blowing at the Okaloosa Island Pier. Under sunny skies Tuesday morning anglers were already pulling in king mackerel. Other fish caught in the last couple of days include Spanish mackerel, hardtail, bonito and flounder and pompano. Pompano and whiting are also showing up in the surf off the beach and hitting squid or cut shrimp.

Inshore/Bay The flounder are starting to move and are showing up on the inshore wrecks. Live bait, mullet or cigar minnows work best. The redfish are starting to school up and can be found around the Mid-Bay Bridge to the Destin Bridge on the grass flats — on the north and south side of the bay. Redfish will hit a top water lure, or you can try bouncing a soft plastic off the bottom. Speckled trout can be found at the mouth of the rivers and up in the rivers in the deep holes.

Offshore/Bottom There are still a few king mackerel, Spanish mackerel and blackfin tuna to be had trolling in close. Bottom fishing is good for a catch of mingo, red grouper and amberjack. Wahoo are still showing up on the edge. For those venturing a bit further to the rigs, they are crushing the tuna.
